Fuckin' Ghey

Telling people not to say "That's so gay" is gay.

Merry Christmas

Hope you all have a good one, despite our country's economy shitting out on us. I'll have to come stronger next year, as family hardships and my personal bills stacking has taken priority over LäWhy?'s progress. Rest assured, this is a project that continues on, and I thank any and all of you who continue to support us. In the meantime, here's an interesting (but semi-irrelevant) video from Swoosh promoting the Air Zoom Rapist IV:

Manny P & The Olden Boy

Congratulations again to Manny Pacquiao. I'm not even going to try and act all Filipino pride-ish and crap; I'm a Manny fan no doubt, but I didn't expect Oscar de la Hoya to go out like a punk.

Durrty Souf

Just took a trip to visit the homie John & his wifey in Knoxville, Tennessee. If you've never really stepped out of the Golden State and seen how different the other side of our country is, I suggest you do so. Metropolitan areas are much the same, but the back country is a sight to see.

The Smoky Mountains

This is literally homeboy's backyard. I shot this from his deck.

I could've sworn Hazzard County was in Georgia.

Saw, and was in, the Sunsphere...

...although the whole dilapidated, wig filled vision from The Simpsons had me thinking differently of what I'd see. It was chill in person, with a bar/lounge in the upper portion.

Night flight back to reality

Unpacking important luggage

...and cleaning it up

All in all, an awesome weekend. I've got a more extensive checklist for the next time I'm out there (which shouldn't be too far off). Thanks again to John & Renee for putting me up and feeding my fat ass. Gotta return the favor when you come back to LA.

Hiatus update

I've put LäWhy? on the bakburner for a minute, but she ain't dead. I'm actually looking for anybody graphically/design inclined to help me out with the line. Can't promise much, but seeing your visions come to fruition through print media is always a great reward.

In the past months, I've learned that Stolen Identity was a lot more popular than I first realized, hence my announcement that I'll bring it back for one more run. I'm not quite sure how many I'll do, but for sure I'll do a run in the original black/gold, and probably hit you off with a few new ones as well. Any Suggestions? Click the e-mail link above, I'm always open to suggestions. If I go with it, I'll kick you down some stuff, gratis.

Searching for inspiration yields a lot of things: some awesome, some really suggestively homo (Sausage Master? Really?), all blurry.

The market for aftermarket parts from Japan has been declining for well over five years, due in part to decreased demand both at home and abroad and the rising rates of Chinese knock-offs and other inexpensive (and dubiously built) components.

Today, one of the world's largest performance parts companies, known as Trust in Japan and Greddy here in the States, declared bankruptcy. According to various reports, Trust is approximately $60 million in debt and, after reporting a serious decline in sales since February 2008 and amassing $43 million in loan payments, filed for bankruptcy in Tokyo District Court.

Trust has been around since 1976, employs almost 200 workers and had been dealing in everything from CARB-legal exhausts to turbo systems when Greddy Performance Products was founded in the U.S. in 1994. There are several firms that will step up to fill the need of enthusiasts, assuming that Trust doesn't try to reorganize, but with the aftermarket industry down overall, we suspect this won't be the last time we'll here about a large tuner going under.

Damn it man, Greddy is my absolute favorite choice amongst the Big 3 Japanese tuning firms (HKS & Apex'i being the lesser). Fucking Chinese knockoff companies should go burn down; who the hell are they gonna copy off now? Greddy set the benchmark for properly R&D'd performance parts for Japanese cars, let's just hope they live to tune another day.

It's hard up in these Sesame Streets.

Ain't no front

Laxed on the posting for a sec. Needed some "me" time, especially if I wanted to keep what I do worthwhile and interesting to me as well as the rest of you. I'll be churning stuff out again eventually, just getting stuff settled for myself. Meanwhile, look back on one of the chillest videos from one of the chillest dudes I've ever met, celebrity or not.

It's been a hot minute, I know. I've got shirts, stories, cars and scars to talk about, but peep the Kanye/Murakami video for now as I compose myself.

Since the economy's been in a slump,I find myself going to events/doing things that are $Free.99. The line is still existent, just waiting for more cost efficient launch times. Meanwhile, I'll give some insight as to what me and the LäWhy? crew do to waste time.

The homie Dom & his cronies hosted a pedal of a shindig @ Brooklyn Projects, to celebrate BMX's history via Freestylin' Magazine, as well as its entry into the Beijing Olympic Games as a legitimate event. The video below highlights Dom and a few BMX legends speaking on the evening and the times and events that culminated in the rich history the Retrospective book encompasses.

(BTW, check the video of the event below. Behind Dominic, LäWhy? makes a cameo, sort of. The fatass in the black T facing away from the camera holding the New Era is yours truly, while the homie in the plaid is LäWhy? agent Lance.)

Myu-zick V.D.O.

I have love for music of all genres, but when it comes to visuals, hip-hop videos (especially Hype Williams ones) have always been so necessary to me. Say what you will about the whole objectifying women thing, it doesn't make me appreciate stuff like this any less. Lloyd's falsetto-singing ass, the breezys in this, & the sample track are all good in my book.

This is why our country is so screwed up

An honest, workaday cat like me is having all the trouble in the world trying to sustain and put out a modest clothing brand with mad difficulty, while some quack-minded fudgepacker is selling shit like this "mankini" bottom, and they're probably selling like hotcakes too. Fucking Kitson Men.

So, as I'm trying to find inspiration (and what TO and NOT to do with this line), I stopped by the streetwear cockfest that is Fairfax and checked out the newest resident, pro skater Keith Hufnagel's boutique HUF, cousin to his several SF shops. Cool and simple design/layout,chill heads (They yanked the boy Mackey [peep his part at 1:15] from Active Valencia to manage the joint. What up son?!?)and some grade-A breezys (helllooooo Ryan *wink*)to take your money from you. Def check it, if you're into that sort of thing.

The "Big Rig Jig" at the Stagecoach Festival. I've never felt more out of place nor have stuck out like a sore thumb more than I did at this country/redneck/hee-haw extravaganza. Was fun though, plenty of good vittles.
(was there to see The Eagles, John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival, & Michelle Branch; had to deal with a bunch of other country artists I could give a flying crap about, though.)

Now back to trying to scrounge up funds to resurrect my beloved brand.
